Hi everybody. I am writing this blog post at work so I can't include any fun music or pictures. I just wanted to take a minute to tell all of you who happen upon this blog to have a happy Thanksgiving. It's the best holiday of the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas triad. It's the only one that hasn't been commercialized up the wazoo (mostly because there is nothing glamorous about the grocery store) so you still get to experience it for what it is. And what is it? It's the chance to hang with friends and family and give thanks for being able to be with them. That is a pretty kick ass holiday in my book. So good Canada had to bite on our style (they have their own thanksgiving in September). So to all who read I will be giving thanks for you too. My life is so much richer for having all of you in it! Special shout outs to Randy and his family. You're in my thoughts this holiday. Happy Thanksgiving.

01 I am Trying to Break Your Heart
01 I am Trying to Break Your Heart
Wilco

I wanted to open this up with the only Wilco song I will ever like. I can say that with some authority since I have yet to like anything other than this. But Wilco as a band makes me think about why the music labels are going straight down the crapper. This is a band that broke with their label because the label was unhappy with their album and ended up having their album bought for more money by an arm of the same label that originally put them out to pasture. I ask you, does this sound like a functioning business method? No? Yeah, not to me either.

And yet, and yet there is the matter of taste to consider. I am not a fan of mainstream music, I think that essentially as much as Justin Timberlake shakes his moneymaker (pun intended) his music lacks a certain soul, even though he tries mightily and even admirably at times to inject some soul into it, but he never does it for the sake of music. Only for the sake of money. And you can hear the difference. Tell me, more often than not in popular music nowadays who do admire you more, the artist or the producer? It's the producer and it's because they are the ones that at the heart of it, care about the tune.

Anyway I could go on forever about the sorry state of music labels today, but I really think it's their own fault and will leave it at that. Let's move on to something else. Can I get a shout out for Thanksgiving ya'll? It's become the forgotten holiday of the holiday season and that is a goddamn shame. I really kind of love Thanksgiving as a holiday. It's a time to come together with your family and friends and give thanks for another year on this messed up planet. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of screwed up things I would rather not deal with in this world and in my own personal life, but in the larger scheme of things, I would rather be alive for every single day of my fucked-upedness and I would like the opportunity to give thanks for it with the people I love! I am pissed that more and more we go straight from Halloween to Christmas. And that's all I will say about that.

Can you guys believe it's almost a year since I started blogging? Happy Anniversary all two of you who read this.

Recently, I discovered that I was mean to some one. Well, I'll put it like this, when I perceive that I am getting backed into a corner I don't want to be in, I act out. That's all there is to it. Some times I do it intentionally and sometimes I do it unconsciously. Do I wish I didn't act this way? Well, yeah but when I think about all the time that people piss me off in any kind of manner, and how much I just fucking take it, then I really don't give a shit. I am not a fucking basket for you to put all your bad feelings in. The end. You want to bitch ad nauseum about how your marriage is going down the tubes? Fine, but only for so long. That's what therapists are for and I am not qaulified in any way to be a therapist. You want a revenge fuck? Fine, but not with me. I deserve better than to be your sexual frustration receptical. Do I sound like an asshole? Maybe. But I am tired of this crap. So if you don't like it go ahead and cry to the wife that is going to leave you (and if you don't realize it you are a lot dumber than I thought) and let her try to manipulate me into feeling bad about the fact that you can't deal with being alone. The world has never given me a favor in my whole life, and I have come to expect nothing but that from it. So if you don't like my behavior, you can deal or you can walk away. I would probably be better off without you anyway.

I gots to sleep now ya'll. Nighty night.

I'm a bad mom

I have not been taking care of my blog. I am truly sorry for all of you out there who read it (all two of you). You see the Red Sox are in the World Series and I love the Red Sox. A lot of people say that nowadays, but for all of you bandwagoners I have two words... Matt Young. If you can be a fan through days like those then you are a fan and that's all there is to it. Also I happen to live in the greater Boston area so there's nobody else to root for if you happen to like baseball. Anyhoo, I was so amped for game 7 of the ALCS that I did a game diary. Here it is. GO SOX!!!!!!!

So here we are looking at Game 7 of the ALCS and I have decided to do a game diary. In the words of my friend Max, the Sox are my team and if they’re gonna go down then I’m gonna watch them go down. But I need to have something productive to do, that way if things are looking bad I will be less inclined to break my TV.

7:55  Kevin Millar is throwing out the first pitch. I’m sure Baltimore is overjoyed. Two words… media whore.

8:00  Is it just me or do the Indians look nervous? OK here we go… montage time.

8:01  Is it too much to fucking ask that they never show the Boone home run again? News flash people, the Yankees are not playing tonight. It’s called relevancy.

8:03  Paul Byrd is saying that he never took a drug not prescribed by a doctor. Who’s your doctor Byrd, Dr. Spaceman?

8:06  OK here’s the thing. If you want to go ahead and say that the game starts at 8 PM then you should start the game at 8 PM. It’s bad enough that the game starts late, you then have to deal with twenty minutes of crap before the first pitch gets thrown. There is something not right about seeing a commercial before baseball.

8:10  Yeah I think that Youk wearing down the pitcher is important too, but it doesn’t mean a whole hell of a lot if he can’t get on base. I think game 2 proved that.

8:25  I am so pissed off at my boss right now. Yeah I know it’s not pertinent but I just got an email from her about something I could not do anything about this weekend and she wants to know if I did anything about it. The office is closed bitch. Fulfillment will not take the order.

8:26  It’s good to see Dice-K looking loose. No first inning jitters and leaving balls up.

8:27 I hate Travis Hafner. Just die.

8:36 It’s always nice when the lead off guy gets on base. OK Papi’s up. Just try to get on the base. Don’t even worry about going yard. But if you do go yard then that’s nice too.

8:37 Papi strikes out. I know you like it inside but that doesn’t mean you have to swing at everything.

8:42  I will take a win anyway I can, so Indians keep making those fielding errors.

8:45  Bases loaded one out. Can JD Drew do it again? I think I may cry right now.

8:46  Yeah he can’t do it again. Whatever.

8:53 I like the fact that Dice-K is letting his defense field the ball. My dad and I were talking about this today and he said that Dice-K needed to let that happen. You were right dad.

8:56 Dane Cook. Inexplicable.

8:57 Tim McCarver is demanding that someone get up in the bullpen for Cleveland. Shut the fuck up Tim.

9:00  Ellsbury hits a line drive. I hope it’s obvious to everyone out there that Coco Crisp will no longer be part of the Red Sox next season.

9:09 Guttierrez avg. is .138. Wow. Is that just in the post season?

9:12 Casey Blake looks like fucking Grizzly Adams.

9:13  Grizzly Adams gets on base. Now we will see how Dice-K’s nerves hold up when there’s a man on.

9:17 Come on Dice-K. Don’t freak out… whew.

9:27 All these tag up plays… this ball is small ya’ll.

9:36 How long will Dice-K be able to go in this game? He just fielded that ball from Hafner like a champ. Way to go!!

9:41 Dice-K is going to have to let Garko swing at this ball. At least it wasn’t a home run. God can we just make it out of this fucking half? This is torture.

9:46 Thank god that’s over. I say Dice-K doesn’t make it through 5. If I never hear Cleveland Rocks again it will be too soon.

9:51  I think it’s safe to say that Varitek has Westbrook’s number.

9:55 The camera guy just shot Jacoby Ellsbury’s crotch for thirty seconds. Thanks camera guy.

9:56 Boy I wish we could just stay out of the double play right now. No such luck.

10:03 OH MY GOD!!! Manny threw that like a rocket. And still McCarver says Lofton should’ve been safe. Go fuck your mother Tim.

10:06 Take. Dice-K. Out. Now. Please god we could use a double play right now. God please don’t let them score.

10:10 Dice-K wants a new baseball. Can anyone say bleeding the clock?

10:14 This at bat with Cabrera makes me want to puke. Or maybe it’s the popcorn I bought from the Dollar Store today. No it’s the at bat.

10:17 Is it too much to ask that the next three batters make something happen? Particularly Papi. I know the knee hurts man but we need you.

10:30 Okey Dokey, Okey Dokey. The ball’s in your hands try not to fuck it up and try not to get your head knocked off.

10:38 I wonder how much of that Sprint commercial with Roger Clemens was taken from real life.

10:43 What the hell happened to Jake Westbrook? Why is he striking everybody out all of a sudden? Can someone just hit the ball at him?

10:49 Stupid Lugo. Come on Okajima keep em off the bases. That wasn’t your fault. Shake it off. Stay loose Red Sox. STAY LOOSE!!!!!!!

10:52 Weird play keeps Lofton at third. Could that be the thing that keeps us ahead? DOUBLE PLAY!!!!!!! YES YES YES!!!!!!!!

10:54 This is going to be a night for Tylenol PM. I am too jazzed to fall asleep.

10:59 All these lead off doubles. We need to make something happen right now. Good bunt by Lugo. Stay loose Pedroia.

11:02 YES!!!!!!!! Dustin Pedroia. Just homered. This is my dad’s guy. Go dad.

11:11 Make a wish. Okajima did an admirable job as the set up man. I know Pap’s coming in but I am still nervous.

11:16 I feel like I’m watching Major League every time I see Papelbon throw a fast ball.

11:21 I am spent. My load has been blown. Thank god I am already in bed.

11:27 Mike Lowell just hit a double, he has more RBI’s this season than any third baseman in a Red Sox uniform and he looks like George Clooney. I officially love him.

11:30 JD Drew is the Mark Bellhorn of 2007. Except of course for the size of his paycheck. 6-2 Red Sox.

11:36 They’re intentionally walking Jacoby Ellsbury. This makes me laugh.

11:38 Hey Joe Buck, stop talking about the Rockies. You are announcing a game 7. Try to stay focused asshole.

11:40 So if Lugo strikes out, then there’s Pedroia. I would like to see some production this half.

11:41 Joe Buck needs to shut his goddamn mouth. How dare he talk about our record against the Rockies right now.

11:43 DUSTIN PEDROIA!!!!!!

11:45 What do you want to make a bet that they put Gagne in?

11:47 YOOOOOOUUUUUUK!!!!!!!!

11:49 Three outs left. I would like to remind everybody out there that the game’s not over until the last out is recorded. Thank god no Gagne.

11:55 I guess they knew what they were thinking when they put Ellsbury in left. Nice catch.

12:04 World Series bound, baby. Can you believe it??

Lessons Learned From A Very Bad Day

  • Post a comment

1. If There is a two year construction project happening on your commute route, at the end of those two years you will be appoximately two hours late to work. Note to self: find another way to get to work.

2. The day that you spend the longest amount of time on the bus is the day that your iPod breaks down.

3. The stuff you hear on the morning commute is not worth hearing.

4. Never get off the fucking bus. Don't try to be nice, you will not be able to get back on the bus if you try to let people off. This is not the T, bitches. They don't love you here.

5. The day that starts with you picking up the phone is the day you are on the phone all day. I hate the phone.

6. Don't try to show up at the genius bar without an appointment

7. When you finally show up at the genius bar with an appointment don't try to know what you are talking about (note to all: the apple store experience was my best experience of the day. I went to the store mourning  the death of my iPod like it was a child. After describing my problems with a series of descriptive noises and hand gestures, I was given a brand new iPod, no questions asked). For all of you who are wondering, my new iPod is named Lola and she's a showgirl.

8. When you get a bus that is practically empty, the person with the worst B.O. will always sit in the seat in front of you.

9. That person will then to proceed to flick his dandruff flakes on you.

10. When trying to down a few beers and forget day, try not to buy the six pack with the tiny bottles (seriously, I feel like a midget up in here).

A Song to take you out. Dedicated to Oakland, the town of very bad days.

A Part Time Model

I love TV y'all.

Flight of the Conchords - Most Beautiful Girl in the Room

Flight of The Conchords is probably the funniest stuff I've seen in a while.

And... I was a little drunk the other night and watched a marathon of Americas Next Top Model and thought to myself "What the hell is so hard about making faces in front of a camera".Well I thought I would experiment with making my own faces in front of a camera and in doing so I realized something. I have a lazy eye!

DSC_0285DSC_0286DSC_0297

I submit the following trhee photos. The right eye in each one (I guess it would be my left eye in real life) kinda dips. OK look at the left one, I think it might even be looking the other way! That's not just a lazy eye that's a wall eye. I have a wall eye! Oh man. I could be a part time model (but I'd probably have to keep my normal job).

Anyway can someone tell me why 30 Rock is not part of Premiere Week? Oh the humanity!!!!!

Hi everybody. I know it's been a while since I posted on here. Things have been kind of crazy lately. I guess I should start off by telling you about all the stuff that's been going on with me. Well I went to a show two weeks ago. Animal Collective. And yes there were a lot of beeping noises involved, but it was a very good show. And I got to take the above picture which makes it all worth it. What you see above is nothing, just air and light. Pretty cool huh? I have others like that on my flickr page so check it out. The link is on this page (look to the right... flickry flickrness).

Here's the thing about going to the show though. Well actually two things. First, I was probably one of the oldest people there. Goddamn Boston in September, you're old at 26 around this time of year. Second, I should not have gone. I was sick that day, I actually went home early because I wasn't feeling well. On the way to the T I remembered that I had bought the tickets like four months ago. I had been waiting for this band to come to Boston for 2 years. There was really no way I was going to miss the show. I think the only thing that would've kept me from it was broken bones or death. But boy did I pay for the next couple days. To top it off, the show was at the Avalon and I got out right as the Red Sox game ended. I ended up having to walk from Lansdowne St. To Central Sq. to catch a cab. I hate being sick.

I just got back from a week long company meeting on the Cape. At first I was all psyched because, you know, free trip to the Cape. By the end of it I wanted to walk back to Boston. Living in the same house for four full days of meetings culminating in a company clam bake (not on the beach I might add) where you have to act all friendly with a bunch of coworkers that you don't know just sucks. After things like this you take a look back and think things like "Wow, I really hate my boss" and not because they make you work a lot but because they're not very nice as people. It was a such a mindless soul sucking activity, that it wasn't until now that I cold actually form enough coherent sentences to write this.

So it has turned to fall here in New England all of a sudden. You can smell it in the air. It's hard not to get philosophical and even a lttle bit nostalgic about fall as a season. I can remember being a kid and jumping into big piles of leaves, pumpkin picking, skipping class in high school to go apple picking. Driving to Vermont with my folks to look at foliage. Walking down the the street to the bus stop and feeling like the street looked like it was on fire. But when you think about it, all this is nature's way of getting ready to die. Okay maybe not die, but at least to become comatose. There is always a little bit of sadness in fall.

But you know something? All of these things the good, the bad and the sick these are the things to add flavor to your life. Wouldn't you like to blaze before you sleep? With that I leave you to enjoy the colors in your life. Here's a song to take you out.

Some Thoughts on the VMA's

  • Sep 9, 2007
  • Post a comment

1. Oh Britney, those colored contact lenses could not hide the dead look in your eyes. You need to take all the money you've made and go back to the bayou, because you hate your job. And that's OK, but don't make the rest of the world suffer for it.

2. Holy crap, who the hell is Chris Brown??? That shit was tight.

3. Rihanna has a cute accent, and I hate to admit this but I love that "Umbrella" song. Ella, ella, ay, ay, ay.

4. The fantasy suite I most want to be in: it's a tie between Foo Fighters and Kanye West.

5. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Laaame. Wasn't that the name of Skeletor's house? JK. But really what was the name of Skeletor's house?

6. Kid Rock punches Tommy Lee in the face. Hilarious. This is what Pamela Anderson's boobs have reduced these two men to.

7. Mark Ronson must have pictures of an MTV executive in a very, very compromising position. Not only was he the "house DJ" of the evening, which meant you heard practically every song on his new album, but all the MTV shows advertised during the show used Mark Ronson as its bed music. I mean it was just overkill. If you listened hard enough you could hear the sound of someone gagging on Mark Ronson's dick.

8. Is it my imagination or did the VMA's used to be better? Only two or three big performances, all the other ones were cut to's, intros or outros. And only four or five videos were really being voted on. It's sad that the music industry is suffering so much and all they can rely on from MTV is outros or bed music during The Hills. If they're lucky. Maybe if they showed videos every once in a while they'd be able to play more.

9. I love how they're all "This is the only time you will ever get to see the VMA's so you better watch it now" When they first said it I wondered how long it would be before they caved and played it again. Apparently it took all of thirty seconds, because they went and replayed the whole thing right afterward!  Did someone say false advertising?

10. And finally, if you really need a yardstick to how far Brit Brit has fallen, just take a look at the show closer and former flame JT. As far as performers go they used to be equals in that at least (we all know who the better singer is), but now where JT has vitality and panache, Britney, has half hearted gyrating and the appearance of being propped up, (seriously, all the hands up and hands down from the platforms kind of made it look like she was tipsy and couldn't handle it on her own). I know the fan's will think I am Britney bashing, but it's like this: I wanted to be impressed and wasn't, not by a mile. So there it is.

Hot City, Cool Moment

  • Aug 30, 2007
  • Post a comment

So Let me try to set the scene: Sunset on Hanover St. As the sun sets behind a building, a cool breeze blows. On the balcony over Tresca a man is on his knees talking earnestly to a seated woman. Her back is to me so I can't see her face, but the people just ahead of me on the sidewalk, two young women, are staring with a tender curiousity, half smiles on their faces. Crossing the street is a gaggle of young men, back from a game of touch football, all of us strangers, our attention shifting to this  happy moment on the balcony between two people that none of us know. The woman on the balcony's face comes into view and at that moment she erupts into a huge smile, surprised yet elated. It is clear that the man has just proposed. Down on the street we all stop to witness as she nods her head and hugs her fiance, and all of us, me, the two girls and the frat boys, we applaud, and then move on, all of us smiling as we go.

There are some times when city living can get the best of you, being stuck on the train, dealing with knife wielding crazies, half an hour waiting behind the scratch ticket guy. These are all things that will slowly drive you mad, but being part of that moment tonight, that's why you live here. Because for thirty seconds, ten people were a family, and these moments they're all around you. All you have to do is look up.
